Un Secret Served on a Porcelain Platter with a Fish Head The Sunday Whirl #18-A Baker’s Dozen

Wasted girls with gunslinger hips and silver spurred
thighs, their smoking fingers riding desert plains

On cracked ground, shoulders slouch,
resistance caught in a tide of revolution’s cheap
perfume; desperation spins the realm

Ashen wives with pearls screwed tight …
pockets of granite stones
cleanse stranger light

  1. Wow, what a title and what a great tale you spun from the wordle words.
    A very nice write!

  2. Sounds like some friends of mine….. 😉

  3. ‘Wasted girls with gunslinger hips and silver spurred
thighs, their smoking fingers riding desert plains’
    I LOVED that!!

  4. Pamela, this wordle suits your style to a T – very atmospheric. I love the idea of gunslinger hips on a girl!

  5. Lots of wonderful phrasings here, Pamela. I especially love the first stanza.

  6. “Wasted girls with gunslinger hips and silver spurred
thighs” – I loved that line Pamela!

  7. Pamela each stanza gives a slightly different view, but together they create a fluid image of today’s female reality. I didn’t really notice the wordle words, and that makes it a good one in my book. Wonderful, as usual,

  8. I like your gunslinging girls image.
    way to go

  9. Lives can be a different as day and night. Nicely done.

  10. ha, this is inspired…gunslinger hips…nice…i agree each stanza could stand but creates a whole picture…

thank you for the warm wishes at dverse today….

  11. The title was brilliant all by itself and the poem a delight to read. So well done!

  12. Your poems always warrant several readings, and this one doesn’t fail.

    silver spurred/thighs – sublime!

  13. “Showdown at the Oh-No-You-Didn’t Corral” could be the alternate title for this one, Pamela. Great portrait of the standoff between the gunslingers and stone flingers. In fact, your poem and 1sojournal’s comment inspired a poem, and I may have to double post today… 🙂

  14. Sharp and edgy! So many great lines and the title is dynamite! “Wasted girls with gunslinger hips and silver spurred thighs, their smoking fingers riding desert plains” is spectacular!

  15. Pamela, such great imagery in that first stanza. I wish there was more about those “wasted girls”, but I also love “Ashen wives with pearls screwed tight”. I would say the sacred and the profane, but I think they might all be profane in their own ways.
