“The Kitchen Walls” We Write Poems: Prompt #89 Respond to this

I compare the imminence
of notions and illusions;
there is a story surrounding it
From the peppers I carve in perfect
slices, spitting veins on open fires
as if they were little quakes, I am molten
in this kitchen, wiping our dance’s last tear

  1. Very original take on the prompt.

  2. I love ‘I am molten in this kitchen’. Molten is such a gorgeous word.

  3. We cry as life goes on…excellent.

  4. Your word choice and imagery harken back to the reality that claimed the lives of all those boys. This feels almost like a curio poem, written about a single moment. The memory of the speaker, along with your imagery, elevate this mundane act and steep it in sorrow and grief. Well done.
