Jet-powered skies ravage colours
today; machines thread
lost sacrament, leaving me damaged
as men play trip numbers,
advice cool to women in wayward sublime
Conform subtle wishes of pagan desire;
in prayer-contained faith fetid quagmire resides
Confirmation unbound in this hollow mistake;
within single lines, benediction dies here
wow…this is like a cascade of imagery with a wicked flow…from the machines in the opening to the spirituality of the end….Conform subtle wishes of pagan desire;
in prayer-contained faith fetid quagmire resides…ha wicked good line…
Thanks my friend. Don’t you hate that when that happens.
So much to love in this poem, Pamela! One great image after another, from your awesome title to your stunning last line! “Confirmation unbound in this hollow mistake; within single lines, benediction dies here.” Hollow mistake is wonderful!
Thanks Marianne, I didn’t use two of the words, oops!
Ahh… the slippery slope… powerful. Pagan desire.
I often wondered now if Pagan worship was so bad, the established, organised ones aren’t doing too well now, are they?
Bren, you have a good point there.
Conform subtle wishes of pagan desire;
I keep asking how pagan desires can be so overbearing. It appears to be so! Wonderful verse Pam!
